đ Shocking News Alert! đ

More than a quarter of UK kids are living in homes struggling to put food on the table! đ Major research from a leading food bank network reveals some alarming stats. Around 27% of our nationâs children are in food insecure households, missing meals or lowering food quality because of financial strain. For kids under five, itâs even more concerning with 31% affected.

This comes as living costs keep climbing. And, shockingly, having a job doesnât always shielding families from hardship, with 30% of those hitting up food banks coming from working households.
With the governmentâs strategy to tackle child poverty expected soon, there’s a huge push to scrap the two-child benefit cap which could lift hundreds of thousands out of severe hardship â including 470,000 children by 2026/27.
Brian Cox, famed Succession actor and Trussell supporter, knows the struggle first-hand and finds the findings âtruly shocking.â He’s passionate that no child should find themselves needing a food bank.đ¤˛
Regionally, the North West experiences the toughest times with 26% of households facing food insecurity, compared to 10% in Yorkshire and Humberside.
Helen Barnard from Trussell stresses this isnât an inevitable trendâitâs fixable with urgent updates to our systems! Their plea: no one, especially in a place like the UK, should have to choose between essentials.
Remember, every little effort counts in making the change we want to see! đ
