Though he’s a tennis legend with two Wimbledon titles and a US Open win under his belt, this time Andy’s competing for a different prize in the Pro-Am event.
As he stepped up to the first tee at Carnoustie, a spectator piped up with, “Are you nervous?” Andy’s cheeky two-word reply: “I am.” 🎤😂 The crowd loved it, bursting into laughter and capturing the moment on their phones.
This championship is not just any golf event—it’s a unique blend featuring a Pro-Am tournament alongside a top-notch DP World Tour competition. Played across three stunning courses—St Andrews, Carnoustie, and Kingsbarns—there’s a whopping £150k on the line, with a top prize of £37k that Andy’s eyeing.
Away from golf, Andy’s also been busy off the course. He opened up about how his children mistakenly think he’s a pro golfer, seeing how often he’s practising. “My kids think I’m a golfer,” he laughed, sharing how they wonder why he’s out on the green every day.
Andy has embraced golf passionately after retiring from tennis last year, following an illustrious career culminating in the Paris Olympics. Finding joy in his new sport, he says, “It’s filled a bit of a void. I love practising and getting better at it.”
