Cardiff residents are up in arms! They’re demanding, “Bring back our wheelie bins!” after the council admitted to a recycling mishap that’s causing major frustration. Remember last year’s new sack-sort scheme? Well, despite efforts to improve recycling by colour coding our waste, some eagle-eyed locals caught workers mixing it all back together in the lorries. Yes, seriously!
Rahim from Fairwater even filmed it in action and shared the clip, sparking a fresh debate. He affirms, “It’s not the workers’ fault, but it’s worrying.” And he’s not alone. Many commenters are venting about how backwards it all seems.
The council argues otherwise, saying there’s been a performance boost in recycling, jumping from 60% to 64%, and when things get mixed, it’s properly sorted by a re-processor later. Yet, reassurances haven’t quelled the dissatisfaction. Docksboys chimes in, “They’ve always done it this way! You can’t roll out a plan without the essentials like trucks or staff. It’s just another rushed project.”
The discrepancy has sparked questions: What’s actually happening at the recycling depots? And why the lack of uniform recycling practices across Wales? Residents continue to express their disbelief and concern over haphazard executions of such initiatives.
