🌊🎉 Big-hearted fun at the Mumbles Raft Race! 🎉🌊

Despite strong winds leading to the cancellation of this year’s thrilling Mumbles Raft Race across Swansea Bay, the community spirit was alive and well. Thousands turned out to support the fundraising event, raising a whopping £20,000 for the local RNLI lifeboat station! 🚤💨

The wind might have grounded the rafts, but it didn’t dampen the fun. Guests got creative with a lively fancy dress competition and indulged in the traditional egg and flour fight on the slipway – a messy highlight loved by all. 🥚😂

RNLI crew member Adam Gilbert explained their decision to call off the race was all about safety: “Water safety is at the heart of everything we do.” 🌊
BBC’s Helen Willetts shared that unusually gusty winds reached up to 50mph due to high pressure in the south. So, it was all about keeping everyone secure! 🌬️
The event still dazzled with a ‘man overboard’ demonstration using rescue equipment, and the crowd’s favourite, Tesco employees dressed as WWII soldiers singing classic tunes to commemorate Victory over Japan Day. 🎶👨✈️
Though the race was called off, the event was a hit, raising more than ever before for an excellent cause. It’s thanks to the dedicated Mumbles lifeboat crew and volunteers making magic happen every year. 💪❤️
Here’s to another successful year of fun, community, and support! Can’t wait to see what the next Mumbles Raft Race has in store. 🌊✨
