๐ Big Changes Ahead for Learner Drivers! ๐

Learner drivers, gear up for some new rules that could change the way you get your licence! ๐ Starting soon, you might have to log more hours behind the wheel before booking that all-important driving test. According to latest reports, there could be a six-month gap between your theory and practical tests. The UK Government plans to roll this out for road safety improvements, and itโs sparking quite the debate!

Why the wait? ๐ Itโs all about making roads safer. Young drivers, especially those in their late teens and early 20s, make up just 6% of licence holders but have a significant share of serious road incidents. With a potential reduction in collisions by as much as 32%, these changes could be a real game-changer.

But that’s not all! The government is also considering mandatory eye tests for older drivers and possibly lowering the drink-driving limit, with stricter rules for new drivers. Safety first, folks!
Transport Secretary Lilian Greenwood explains, “A driving licence is more than a cardโit’s a ticket to independence. But we need to ensure young drivers start their journey with a strong foundation.”
Stay tuned for more details as the government rolls out this road safety strategy on Wednesday. What do you think? Is this the right step towards safer roads, or just a longer wait for independence? Drop your thoughts in the comments below! โ๏ธ๐ฌ
