After 16 years on the run, a Winter Olympics fan has finally been caught! The Slovakian fugitive, wanted in Italy for a string of shoplifting charges dating back to 2010, thought he could sneak back in to cheer on his ice hockey team. But his past caught up with him before he could see the puck drop.
The 44-year-old fan’s escape plan unravelled when he checked into a hotel on the outskirts of Milan. The Carabinieri police were hot on his trail, ready to put an end to his decade-long game of hide-and-seek. He was arrested before he could even make it to the Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena, while his team pulled off a stunning 4-1 victory over Finland. Talk about bad timing!
