Yesterday evening, Cardiff’s Wood Street Bridge was the centre of a dramatic scene as emergency services rushed to assist a woman on the wrong side of the railings. The bridge, which spans the picturesque River Taff, was promptly closed off in both directions around 5.15pm.

Traffic Updates
Imagine this: three fire engines, two fire cars, and a number of police vehicles lined the bridge while onlookers gathered anxiously, rerouted to Millennium Walk to cross the embankment. Quite the scene!

Thankfully, thanks to the prompt and professional response from South Wales Police and the fire service, the woman was brought back to safety by 6pm. She has been taken to the University Hospital of Wales for further care, where she’s in good hands.

A huge shoutout to our local heroes in uniform who handled the situation with care, ensuring the woman’s safety and reopening the bridge after just an hour.

Let’s all remember to look out for one another—help is always just a call away. Stay safe, Cardiff!
