**Police Launch Investigation After Disturbing Video Shows Man Threatening Women On Train**

Police are seeking information from the public after a distressing incident was captured on video, showing a man apparently verbally abusing and threatening two women on a train travelling between Cardiff Central and Swindon. The altercation, which reportedly occurred on the evening of 18 May, has since sparked widespread concern after footage was circulated extensively across social media platforms.

In the viral video, a man is seen standing within a busy train carriage confronting a group of women. According to witnesses and the shared video, he presses the women to comment on their perceptions of attractiveness between himself and his companions. The exchange quickly turns menacing when the individual’s questions escalate to aggressive and threatening language.
Witnesses report that during the confrontation, the man can be heard issuing direct threats towards the women and their acquaintances. According to the footage, he repeatedly shouts, “I will kill you, I will kill your boyfriend. I will follow you to your house, I will follow you to your boyfriend’s house and I will kill your boyfriend.” The intensity of the threats, combined with the public nature of the incident, has provoked alarm and concern for public safety on the railway network.
The British Transport Police (BTP) have confirmed that an investigation has been launched in response to the video and the incident it depicts. In a bid to gather more information, authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the altercation or who may have additional footage to come forward. Officers believe the assault took place during the late hours of 18 May on the Cardiff Central to Swindon route—an intercity line used frequently by commuters and travellers.
A spokesperson from the British Transport Police commented on the matter, stating: “We are aware of a video circulating on social media which shows a woman being repeatedly threatened by a man on a train. There is absolutely no place for violent or intimidating behaviour on the railway network, and we are keen to speak to the victim or any witnesses who can assist with our enquiries.”
The spokesperson went on to reaffirm the force’s commitment to passenger safety, encouraging anyone with pertinent information to contact the BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 271 of May 18. Alternatively, those wishing to remain anonymous are advised to get in touch with Crimestoppers by dialling 0800 555 111.
This incident has reignited ongoing discussions about the safety and security of women and vulnerable passengers when using public transport, particularly during evening journeys. Campaigners and rail users have called for increased vigilance and a more robust police presence on trains, especially on longer intercity services.
The video’s rapid spread online has highlighted the influence of social media in bringing such cases to light. While some users have praised the bravery of the women involved and condemned the man’s behaviour, many have also questioned what further measures can be taken to deter similar acts in future and to ensure swift response from both rail operators and law enforcement.
British Transport Police have reiterated the importance of reporting threatening or antisocial behaviour on the railway. Anyone experiencing or witnessing such incidents is encouraged to act quickly and report the matter either in person or using the official communication channels provided by the authorities.
As enquiries continue, police have appealed for calm and have recommended caution when sharing sensitive material online to avoid potential interference with investigations. The force has yet to make any arrests in connection with the case as of the time of writing, but asks the public for any additional information that may lead to the identification and apprehension of the suspect involved.
