Just this past Saturday, a visitor reported finding a deceased cygnet, which has prompted local authorities to take swift action.
Cyngor Gwynedd has put up warning signs around the area, urging everyone not to touch any dead, sick, or injured birds. It’s also a good idea to keep your dogs on leads and have some hand sanitiser handy. With this avian flu impacting both our cherished wild birds and captive poultry across the UK, these warnings are essential to keep everyone safe.
If you do happen upon any dead wild birds, it’s crucial to report your findings to the Defra helpline at 03459 33 55 77. They’re working with the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) to test and track the spread of the disease, making sure we understand its reach and impact.
