**Two Teenagers Appear in Court Accused of Barry Dad’s Fatal Stabbing**

Two teenage boys, both residents of Llantwit Major, faced magistrates in Cardiff this week, each charged with the murder of Kamran Aman, a much-loved father from Barry. Mr Aman, aged just 38, lost his life following a stabbing incident that took place late on Monday night on Barry Road.

The accused, aged 16 and 17, cannot be named due to legal restrictions designed to protect the identities of minors in the justice system. The pair appeared separately before Cardiff Magistrates’ Court, speaking only to confirm their names during the brief hearing on Thursday. Magistrate Patricia Blackwell addressed each youth, explaining that due to the gravity of the charge, the matter could not remain at magistrates’ court and must be referred to Cardiff Crown Court.

As a result of this judicial decision, both teenagers were remanded into youth detention accommodation, with their next court appearance scheduled for Monday, 7 July. The swift referral of such serious charges to a higher court is standard procedure in the UK’s legal system when dealing with allegations of murder.
In the aftermath of Mr Aman’s tragic death, his family released a heartfelt tribute via South Wales Police on Wednesday evening. Describing Kamran as “the heart of his family,” the statement detailed the profound loss felt by those closest to him, noting that he was not only a devoted husband and father but also a cherished son, brother, uncle, and loyal friend. The tribute painted a picture of a man who was widely admired for his generosity and warmth.
“Kamran brought strength and kindness to everyone he met,” the family’s message stated, adding, “His absence leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of all who knew him.” The family also expressed their gratitude for the support and condolences received from the wider community and took the opportunity to celebrate Kamran’s enduring legacy.
This tragic incident has once again raised concerns about knife crime and youth violence in South Wales, with community leaders and residents expressing sadness and calling for renewed efforts to safeguard young people and prevent such violence from occurring again.
South Wales Police continue to investigate the stabbing and have called on anyone with information, or who witnessed events on Barry Road on the night in question, to come forward. The police presence in the neighbourhood remains significant as authorities work to reassure the local community and assist with the ongoing investigation.
The case has also prompted wider reflection about the support available for bereaved families in the wake of violent crime. Several local organisations have extended offers of assistance to Mr Aman’s loved ones, underlining the community’s determination to stand together during trying times.
As the matter proceeds to the next stage in the courts, the public will be watching closely to see how the justice system responds to this devastating loss. The Crown Prosecution Service is expected to set out the charges in more detail at Monday’s hearing, where both teenagers will appear again before a judge at Cardiff Crown Court.
For now, Mr Aman’s family and the wider Barry community continue to mourn, united in shock and sorrow as they await further developments in the legal process and honour the memory of a man so deeply valued by those around him.
