The hub, operated by the Mumbles Community Council for now, features a café, a meeting room, and provides changing rooms for various sports activities. It’s been a bumpy road: an unexpectedly high rateable value brought daunting rates bills over £93,000, which forced the facility’s closure. With support and business rates relief, they’ve managed to reduce this figure, allowing the lifeblood of local sports like Mumbles rugby, Rangers, and cricket clubs to continue thriving.

Local leader Rob Stewart is thrilled: “It’s great news for local residents that the hub and café will be back open. We’re thankful for the community council’s continued collaboration in these efforts.” His optimism is echoed by Cllr Will Thomas, chair of Mumbles Community Council: “A lot of work has taken place behind the scenes. I’m sure it is appreciated by the community.”

Here’s to the power of community turning the tides and bringing back a cherished local spot for leisure and sport. Don’t miss out—grab your gear, head on over, and enjoy all that the revamped hub has to offer! 🍽️⚽🏉
