We’re saddened to share that beloved broadcaster John Stapleton has passed away at the age of 79. Known for his work on the BBC’s Watchdog and GMTV’s News Hour, John died peacefully in hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.

Last year, John courageously shared his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis, tackling it with his trademark optimism and dignity. He told us, “There’s no point in being miserable… Parkinson’s is here with me now for the rest of my life. Best I can do is try and control it and take the advice of all the experts.”

His resilience and positive outlook were truly inspiring. John’s family, including his son Nick and daughter-in-law Lisa, were by his side until the end. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.
Rest in peace, John. Your legacy in broadcasting will not be forgotten. ❤
