🚴♂️ Shocking tractor accident leaves cyclist with life-changing injuries! 🚜😢

In a terrifying road incident on a rural Denbigh road, cyclist Alwyn Hughes-Jones was sent “flying into the air” as a farmer tried overtaking him with a tractor and trailer. The manoeuvre caused Alwyn to fall and suffer “catastrophic” injuries, including a severe brain injury, fractured ribs, and a badly injured arm. He spent three months in hospital and can no longer cycle or drive, leaving his family’s life on hold.

The farmer, Osian Storey-Williams, admitted to causing serious injury by careless driving. Although the trailer didn’t touch Alwyn’s bike, the dangerously close overtake proved disastrous. In court, Storey-Williams expressed remorse, acknowledging he should have exercised more caution. He received a community order but avoided disqualification, with the judge citing his good character and cooperation as “special reasons.”

Alwyn’s family is now pursuing compensation to aid his ongoing recovery. Alwyn, a once avid cyclist, expressed his profound loss, sharing how his independence and cherished retirement plans have been derailed. His wife, Anne, is now his full-time carer, facing unexpected challenges.
This heartbreaking accident highlights the vulnerability of cyclists on our roads. Let’s all commit to keeping our roads safe by showing patience and care toward fellow travellers.
