Tragedy struck Bondi Beach in Sydney during a Hanukkah celebration as two gunmen opened fire, leaving 12 dead and 29 injured. Among those who lost their lives was British-born Rabbi Eli Schlanger, a beloved community figure known for spreading joy. The attack, labelled a terrorist incident, took place at the bustling Archer Park area. Eyewitnesses described chaos as shots were fired and brave individuals stepped in to assist.

Australian police have apprehended one of the attackers, while the other was killed. Improvised explosive devices were also found in a car linked to the attack. Authorities have confirmed the incident was an antisemitic assault targeting Jewish Australians on the first day of Hanukkah. The community, and the nation, are in shock, with heartfelt messages of support pouring in from around the world, including from King Charles.

Following the incident, increased security measures are being seen in Jewish areas worldwide, as communities come together to mourn and show resilience.
