🌠 Hey, stargazers! 🌌 Tonight is your golden ticket to witness something extraordinary—a comet that’s not coming back for another 1,300 years! Comet Lemmon, also known as C/2025 A6, will be making its closest approach to our planet. You might spot this celestial traveller with the naked eye under a very dark sky, but if you’ve got a pair of binoculars, even better!

The comet is setting the sky ablaze with its iconic glowing tail and comet “coma.” To catch a glimpse, look low in the northwestern sky just after nightfall—around 8:00 pm. It’s currently hanging out in the constellation Boötes, not too far from the bright star Arcturus. Over the coming days, it will saunter into the constellation Serpens. 🐍✨

According to Dr Robert Massey from the Royal Astronomical Society, this is the best time to try and spot Comet Lemmon. He gives a tip: “It’ll stand out as a fairly bright, fuzzy object moving across the night sky!” 🌙🔭 While it might not be as dazzling as some past comets, it’s still a rare and thrilling sight, especially if you’ve never seen one before.
As if that wasn’t enough, the comet’s visit syncs up perfectly with the Orionid meteor shower, peaking around 21 October. Talk about a stargazing jackpot! 🌠
So grab those binoculars, bundle up, and enjoy the show! If you manage to capture any stunning shots, don’t forget to share them on social media—we’d love to see them shining bright! 🌟📸
Happy stargazing, everyone!
