Shocking CCTV footage has captured the moment a 67-year-old woman was violently dragged from her car by a stranger in Wrexham. The assailant, identified as Benjamin Griffiths, then drove off recklessly, ultimately crashing into a Tesco van and landing in bushes in a dramatic sequence of events. The incident took place in the car park of the Heddfan unit hospital and has left viewers stunned by its audacity. A passerby tried to intervene but couldn’t stop Griffiths from speeding off.

Luckily, a police officer on patrol witnessed the chaos and swiftly arrested Griffiths, who admitted to the crime. In court, it emerged that the 35-year-old had a long history of mental health struggles and had been under the influence of drugs at the time. His lawyer revealed he had been battling schizophrenia and was suicidal, leading to his dangerous actions that day.

Judge Simon Mills didn’t hold back, branding Griffiths’ driving as “ridiculously dangerous” during sentencing at Mold Crown Court. Griffiths received a 44-month prison sentence for robbery, alongside additional jail terms for dangerous driving and criminal damage. He’s also been banned from driving for five years and will need to pass an extended retest before getting behind the wheel again.

This incident serves as a harsh reminder of the unpredictable consequences of mental health issues combined with drug use. At the heart of it, though, remains the traumatic experience faced by the innocent woman involved. Stay safe out there, everyone.
