🚫 Foods to Avoid for Your Little One! 🚫

Feeding your baby is an exciting journey, but there are some natural foods you should steer clear of during that crucial first year. Nutrition expert Chris Smith highlights five foods to avoid for your baby’s safety and well-being.
1️⃣ **Honey**: While it might seem harmless, honey can contain spores that pose a risk of infant botulism—a rare but serious illness for under-1s. Save it for after their first birthday!

2️⃣ **Whole Nuts & Nut Pieces**: Due to choking hazards, whole nuts and large globs of nut butter should be avoided. Instead, opt for thinly spread smooth nut butters from six months onwards, unless advised otherwise due to allergies.
3️⃣ **Cow’s Milk as a Main Drink**: Cow’s milk lacks the nutrients your baby needs during their first year. Stick to breast milk or formula as the primary drink, and introduce small amounts of cow’s milk in cooking after six months.

4️⃣ **Added Salt**: Babies’ kidneys aren’t ready for added salt. Their developing bodies can’t handle it and too much can be harmful. Remember, what tastes bland to you is perfectly fine for your little adventurer!
5️⃣ **Added Sugar**: Steer clear of added sugars—they’re unnecessary and can lead to dental issues and unhealthy taste preferences. Natural sugars from fruits are more than enough for satisfying that sweet tooth.
👏 Trust yourself as a parent! If something feels off or you’re unsure, it’s okay to wait. Weaning is a journey, and every baby takes it at their own pace. Always consult with a paediatrician if there’s a family history of allergies. Happy feeding! 🍼👶
