๐ Help Make Dougie’s 100th Birthday Unforgettable! ๐

Meet Dougie Shelley, a true hero and legend who served bravely in the Royal Navy during WWII. This incredible man is turning 100 on September 23rd, and we need your help to make his day extra special!

Dougie, a former seaman gunner, played crucial roles in the Arctic Convoys and was on HMS Milne during the D-Day landings, supporting troops in Normandy. He has no known surviving family, so the Royal Naval Association in Southend is stepping up to make sure he gets the celebration he deserves.
John Hawes, the association’s chairman, is rallying people to send birthday cards for Dougie. Imagine the joy and surprise when he receives 100 birthday cards from well-wishers! ๐๐ฌ
Dougie has been a beloved member of the association since its inception in 1980. Even as age caught up with him, he never missed a Remembrance Sunday, always with a smile and a story to share.
For his special day, John, who is also a talented baker, plans to whip up a classic Victoria sponge cake for Dougie to enjoy. And, of course, thereโll be a bottle of Pusser’s Rum to toast to this milestone! ๐ฅณ๐ฅ
Let’s come together and show Dougie the gratitude and love he deserves. Send your birthday cards to:
Royal Naval Association Club,
73-79 East Street,
Southend-on-Sea,
Essex, SS2 6LQ
Every card will light up his day and remind him of how cherished he is. Spread the word and let’s fill Dougieโs heart with smiles on his centenary!
๐ This is more than just a birthday; itโs a chance to celebrate a life dedicated to service and friendship. Let’s make it unforgettable for Dougie! ๐โจ
