Amateur Boxer’s Mischievous Kinder Egg Blunder at Margam Festival

You won’t believe this ‘eggstraordinary’ tale from the Margam In It Together Festival! Kieran Irwin, a 30-year-old father and keen amateur boxer, found himself in hot water after attempting to sneak cocaine into the festival using a Kinder Egg as his sneaky hiding spot. 🚫🥚
Fresh off a 12-week training and fitness camp, Irwin decided to attend the festival with friends. But his ‘ingenious’ plan hit a snag when security caught on and stopped him, revealing the surprising stash hidden inside the plastic capsule. The find? Seven snap bags of cocaine, weighing a total of 2.79g.

Irwin, who was already under a suspended sentence for previously dealing cannabis, admitted the drugs were for his own use. Despite the peculiar smuggling strategy, his mobile showed no evidence of dealing, suggesting this was a personal stash.
His adventures in boxing couldn’t keep him out of court, though. Swansea Crown Court heard about his struggles since the tragic loss of his father in 2019, which led to his occasional drug use. Fast forward to earlier this year, Irwin had turned over a new leaf, focusing on boxing and even joining a comprehensive training camp. Yet, in what his defence described as a “minor relapse,” he risked it all at the festival.
Despite the folly, the judge decided against immediate custody, giving Irwin a four-month suspended sentence. His past suspended sentence had expired, leaving the court’s hands tied for further actions, but not without a stern £100 fine for breaching his previous conditions.
Here’s hoping Irwin sticks to boxing in the ring and doesn’t land himself in hot water again! 🥊✨
