Chaos erupted at a bustling Cardiff junction when the traffic lights went on strike due to a power outage. Locals pulled out their phones to capture the mayhem at the crossroads of Romilly Road, Llandaff Road, and Romilly Crescent, nestled between Canton and Pontcanna.
The lights went kaput early morning, and social media was buzzing with drivers’ struggles. Unfortunately, around 11:45 AM, a collision occurred. Although no serious injuries were reported, residents weren’t surprised. They had seen the writing on the wall, or rather, the lack of light at the junction.
South Wales Police promptly dispatched PCSOs to manage the traffic flow until temporary lights could take charge. By 3 PM, however, locals noted the absence of officers and temporary solutions.
What’s the culprit? A power outage! A National Grid spokesperson apologised for the disruption, explaining that their engineers worked overnight to fix the issue. After all, keeping Cardiff’s roads moving is a team effort, with the council responsible for the traffic flow.
