Charlie McCoubrey, the dynamic leader of Conwy County Council and head of the Conwy First Independent Group, has announced he’s stepping down from his leadership role next month. 👋

Having taken the reins in May 2021 after Sam Rowlands, who’s off to Senedd now, McCoubrey has been a strong advocate for Conwy, often challenging the funding formulas set by the Welsh Government. He’s been vocal about how Conwy is significantly disadvantaged compared to South Wales councils and its neighbours, Gwynedd and Denbighshire.
