Colin Pitchfork, the notorious child killer and rapist, won’t be seeing the light of day anytime soon. The Parole Board has decided he will stay in prison, where he’s been since 1988. Pitchfork, now 65, was sentenced for the heinous crimes of raping and murdering 15-year-olds Lynda Mann and Dawn Ashworth in the mid-80s.

The Board concluded that Pitchfork still poses a risk to the public and didn’t recommend moving him to an open prison. They noted his limited self-control and poor understanding of his dangerous behaviours.

In February, Pitchfork’s attempt to overturn previous decisions in the High Court was unsuccessful. He tried to challenge the Board after allegations surfaced about an alleged incident involving another prisoner.

This decision was made after extensive hearings this year. It seems that even after being the first person convicted with DNA evidence back in the day, Pitchfork has not shown enough progress to be considered safe for release.
