Supermarket cafes – a blend of convenience and surprising menus! Recently, I set out on a quest to explore the café offerings at some of the UK’s biggest supermarkets: Asda, Tesco, M&S, and Morrison’s. The goal? To see if these cafes are worth a visit. Here’s what I discovered:
**M&S: The Crown Jewel**
M&S absolutely stole the show! Known for their top-notch items, their café didn’t disappoint. The food was fresh, tasty, and varied. I indulged in a delicious chicken and pesto crunchy sandwich and was hooked by their trendy Strawberry Iced Matcha Latte. Staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasant. Though a bit pricier than others, their kids’ menu offers good value.
**Tesco: A Close Runner-Up**
Tesco impressed with a diverse menu and friendly service. Their full English breakfast was massive and delicious, with hash browns stealing the spotlight. Again, I enjoyed another iced matcha – officially a convert! With kids eating for just £4, it’s a solid option for family dining.
**Morrison’s: Family-Friendly Goodness**
Morrison’s café was a pleasant surprise. Offering hearty classics like bangers and mash, and fish and chips, it was the perfect spot for a comforting meal. Kids eat free with an adult meal, making it a budget-friendly choice. Although a bit more understated than M&S, the value for money was indeed commendable.
**Asda: Room for Improvement**
Asda, however, was a letdown, with dirty tables and a limited menu due to staffing issues. Despite the friendly service, the food quality was disappointing. I’d recommend skipping this one for now, especially with the other great options just around the corner.
