🔍 Curious about the latest banking shake-up in Wales? A major bank is set to close multiple branches, and you might want to see if any in your area are affected. Lloyds Banking Group is shutting down 95 branches across the UK, and unfortunately for us in Wales, at least eight locations will be closing their doors. 😮🏦
Starting this summer, these Welsh towns will bid farewell to some familiar banking spots: Halifax in Cwmbran will be first on June 2, followed by Lloyds in Victoria Park, Cardiff on June 3. Other locations like Llangefni, Aberdare, and Ebbw Vale will soon follow. Most will be gone by July, except Ebbw Vale, which stays open until March 2027. 📍🏠
The closure wave isn’t just hitting Wales, though! Across the UK, Lloyds will shutter 53 branches, alongside 31 Halifax sites and 11 Bank of Scotland locations. What sparked this? More folks are switching to digital banking, leading banks to reduce their high-street presence. 📉💻
But, don’t worry if you’re still a fan of cash and face-to-face service! Banking hubs and free ATMs are popping up to ensure nobody’s left without access. 🏧💸 The LINK initiative is stepping up, providing community banking hubs where you can handle everyday transactions and receive specialist help when needed. Excitingly, 212 hubs have been set up so far!
NatWest is making similar moves, but for now, their closures won’t touch Wales. 🌐
