🎢 **Shocking Fairground Incident in Porthcawl** 🎢

An unsettling event unfolded at Coney Beach in Porthcawl after a children’s rollercoaster ride, known as the “Wacky Worm,” derailed, leaving 14 people injured. Among those affected were 13 children, with seven needing hospital treatment.

Videos shared online captured the dramatic moment as onlookers rushed to help the injured, visibly shaken and bruised passengers. The ride, a popular attraction designed for young thrill-seekers, had one of its carriages precariously hanging off the track.

Emergency services sprung into action, evacuating the park swiftly while police, fire brigade, and paramedics attended to the scene. South Wales Police alongside Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigators were seen conducting thorough inspections.
Following the incident, Coney Beach was temporarily closed but reopened to visitors on August 15. The park issued a heartfelt statement expressing their shock and sadness over the accident. They conveyed their thoughts with those injured and thanked the emergency services for their swift response.
Coney Beach clarified that the ride was operated by an external third party and not owned by the park itself. The investigation remains ongoing as they work to uncover what led to this unfortunate event.
Eyewitnesses described hearing a “loud bang” followed by “screams” before urging others to “get the kids off.” One concerned father recounted watching in fear as the ride “completely lifted off the rail” with his three children aboard.
Our hearts go out to all the families affected, and we wish a quick recovery to everyone involved.
