Imagine thinking you’ve made a budget-friendly purchase, only to discover it’s a potential death trap. These seats, priced between £12.50 and £40, are deceivingly cheap compared to compliant seats starting at around £80.

Trading Standards has deemed these products as “killer car seats”, and they’re right. The risk isn’t worth the savings.

👮‍♀️ PC Rachael Wonfor recently discovered a shocking number of these dangerous contraptions during car seat checks. One parent, unaware of their illegality, was using a harness system instead of a proper car seat, mistakenly believing it was legal. Remember, if it’s available online, it doesn’t automatically mean it’s safe or legal!

Online platforms have started taking action after being alerted, but with products still reappearing, the fight isn’t over. It’s crucial for these marketplaces to take responsibility and act promptly against such listings.

🛑 What you can do:
– Always check for R44 or R129 safety regulation labels.
– Be cautious of suspiciously low-priced seats.
– Share this information with fellow parents. Awareness can save lives!
