Ryanair is in hot water over a new policy that’s sparking outrage! From November 12th, the budget airline will require all passengers to use digital boarding passes, ditching the traditional paper ones entirely. This move has been slammed as “disgusting” and “discriminatory” by advocacy groups representing seniors.


Silver Voices, an organisation championing the over-60s, is up in arms, accusing Ryanair of making air travel a hassle for older passengers who may not be tech-savvy. The group’s director, Dennis Reed, minced no words, calling the decision a “disgraceful move” and suggesting it unfairly targets older travellers. He questioned what would happen when someone arrives at the airport without the required app, urging Ryanair to rethink its plan.

Caroline Abrahams from Age UK echoes these sentiments, insisting there should always be an alternative for those not online. She emphasises the importance of inclusivity in booking and ticketing processes.
On the flip side, Ryanair’s chief marketing officer, Dara Brady, argues that this switch will provide a “faster, smarter, and greener” travel experience. But critics are not convinced, fearing it could isolate older flyers.
