There’s a buzz in a Denbighshire village as plans for a new leisure complex have sparked a lively debate! 🏊♂️🏋️♀️ Despite being called a “monstrosity” by some, the county council has given the thumbs up to the new facility. Set to replace the existing swimming pool at Parc Farm Caravan Park in Llanarmon-Yn-Ial, the development promises everything from a swimming pool to a gym, and even restaurants and bars.

While some locals think it sticks out like a sore thumb in the picturesque Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, others see it as a fantastic addition that will serve the community’s needs without having to travel far. Cllr Huw Hilditch-Roberts made his feelings clear, painting a picture of a “container dropped in a field”, but not everyone agrees.
Cllr Alan James jumped to the plan’s defence, calling the design “creative” and beneficial for local residents, especially young folks needing amenities close to home. The community council isn’t quite on board, worrying about more traffic, caravans, and a potential strain on the peaceful surroundings.

Despite these concerns, the council voted 12 to 7 in favour, with a note encouraging the developer to work with them on choosing the right materials to blend with the landscape. The council’s approval has paved the way for the new leisure hub, highlighting a divide between preserving the quaint charm and embracing modern change. What do you think – eyesore or asset? 🌄🤔
