🚴♂️🏴 The name’s too hot to handle! British Cycling has been causing a stir after censoring the name of the charming Welsh village of Three Cocks during its national junior road races. The village, which proudly hosted two stages of the event, found its name swapped for five asterisks on the official schedule.

Apparently, ‘Three Cocks’ was deemed a bit too cheeky, sparking amusement and bewilderment amongst locals and cycling fans alike. One comment quipped, “Far too offensive to have cockerels crowing over the Welsh countryside, let alone three!” with others questioning what’s so shocking about a name that’s been around for centuries.

The races took the spotlight during the August Bank Holiday weekend, starting with a thrilling 76km sprint and wrapping up with a 10km time trial, both staged in this historic village. Rooted in history, the name ‘Three Cocks’ comes from the coats of arms of the local Williams family and has been around for about 500 years.

Locals are puzzled by the need for censorship, with many seeing it as an unnecessary nod to modern ‘wokeness.’ Even the centuries-old Three Cocks Inn stands by its name, which has warmly welcomed visitors for generations.
British Cycling has remained tight-lipped on their decision to alter the village’s name. What do you think? Is this just a sign of the times, or a case of political correctness gone mad? 🌍🎉
