Controversy Erupts Over Ongoing Vehicle Prohibition at Picturesque Beach in Wales

🚗🏖️ Controversy brews as cars remain banned from the stunning Newport Sands beach in north Pembrokeshire! In 2023, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park took bold action to preserve the natural beauty and safety of this beloved spot, transforming it into a vehicle-free zone. Only emergency services, the RNLI, and coastguard have the green light to drive on the sands.

A petition soon surfaced, urging a reconsideration, especially highlighting how such a ban could limit access for beachgoers with disabilities. Despite this, the park authority upheld the decision while promising to explore ways to enhance accessibility for all.

Good news on that front though! Plans have been unveiled to improve visitor facilities. Expect a revamped public toilet block, an access ramp, steps to the south slipway, and even a beach wheelchair storage facility. A new and improved car park is on the horizon too, boasting 52 spaces, increased from the current 43, including more spots for disabled parking.
