Kyle Bevan, who was serving time for the brutal murder of two-year-old Lola James in Wales, has died in prison. The 33-year-old received a 28-year minimum sentence in 2023 for the horrifying attack on Lola in Haverfordwest back in July 2020. The court heard heart-wrenching details of how Lola suffered injuries akin to those from a car accident, inflicted by Bevan, her mother’s partner at the time. Tragically, the little girl never regained consciousness and passed away four days after the attack.

Bevan had attempted to spin a tale that Lola’s injuries were due to an accidental fall, but the jury saw through his facade, finding him guilty of murder. During his trial, the judge described Bevan’s actions as “sustained, deliberate, and very violent,” highlighting how Bevan showed no remorse for his actions.

Lola’s mother, Sinead James, was also sentenced to six years for allowing or causing the death of her child. The short-lived relationship between Bevan and James began through social media, and it came to light that the heinous crime was an exercise of control over a defenceless child.
Authorities are now investigating Bevan’s death in custody at HMP Wakefield, West Yorkshire. The prison service confirmed his passing, but offered no further comment pending a police investigation.
Bevan’s death is the second notable incident at the prison in recent weeks, with former Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins also dying under tragic circumstances.
With the community still reeling from the loss of young Lola, many hope for justice and answers regarding these incidents in custody.
