**Cardiff Shooting Incident: Two Face Charges After Teen Injured in Pontprennau**

Two individuals appeared before Cardiff Magistrates’ Court after a teenager was shot in the Pontprennau area of Cardiff earlier this month. The 15-year-old victim suffered injuries in the evening hours of Saturday, 7 June, following an incident at a residence on Clos y Ffynnon.
South Wales Police responded to reports of a firearms incident at approximately 8pm. Emergency services transported the teenager to hospital, where he was treated for injuries deemed not to be life-threatening. The situation prompted a substantial police response and an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the shooting.

Appearing before the magistrates on Thursday, 19 June were Ashley Corbin, aged 20, from Bristol, and a 17-year-old male, who for legal reasons relating to his age cannot be identified. Both individuals were detained in Bristol on Monday, 16 June, before being charged with possession of a firearm with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, as well as causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
During the court proceedings, no applications for bail were entered by either accused. As a result, Ashley Corbin, who is of no fixed abode, was remanded into custody. The 17-year-old co-defendant was also refused bail and will be held in youth detention until the next stage of proceedings. Both are scheduled to appear for a plea, trial, and preparation hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on 18 July.
The gravity of this case has underscored local concerns around violent incidents involving young people and firearms. Incidents of this nature, while still relatively rare in Cardiff, serve as a somber reminder of the potential for serious harm and disruption within communities.
As the investigation continues, law enforcement have confirmed that four additional people have been arrested in connection with the incident. These individuals include an 18-year-old woman from Newport, an 18-year-old man from Cardiff, and a 22-year-old man from Newport. South Wales Police stated that these three have been released on bail pending further enquiries into related matters not directly concerning the shooting. Additionally, a 22-year-old male from Bristol was released on bail as investigations proceed.
Police are persisting in their appeal for witnesses and information, particularly reaching out to motorists who might have been in the vicinity of Pontprennau or Pentwyn during the timeframe of interest. Officers are specifically keen to hear from anyone who travelled along Church Road or the A4232 (Pentwyn link road) between 7pm and 7.50pm on Saturday, 7 June, and may have dashcam footage. Such evidence could prove vital as detectives piece together the events leading up to the shooting.
Those able to assist are encouraged to submit dashcam footage or any relevant information directly to South Wales Police via their online portal. For individuals wishing to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers can be contacted at 0800 555 111, or via their secure online form. The public is reminded to always dial 999 in an emergency.
This case remains a developing story, with further details likely to emerge as investigations and court proceedings continue. South Wales Police have reassured residents that incidents involving firearms are treated with the utmost seriousness and extensive enquiries are underway to bring those responsible to justice.
Anyone with information is urged to come forward, as community cooperation remains crucial in tackling serious crime and ensuring public safety. Authorities stated that supporting victims and preventing further incidents will remain a policing priority as the case moves through the judicial process.
