In a dramatic courtroom revelation, a Polish woman, Julia Wandelt, was told in no uncertain terms, “you are not Madeleine McCann.” Wandelt, 24, from Lubin, has been on trial with Welsh 61-year-old Karen Spragg for allegedly stalking the McCann family. The infamous case dates back to when Madeleine vanished during a family holiday in Portugal 18 years ago.

Julia was reportedly convinced of her identity as Madeleine, bombarding Kate McCann with over 60 calls in one day and sending numerous messages. Even emails to Gerry McCann contained chilling phrases like “I can be your daughter.” However, scientific evidence was presented, confirming no familial connection.

During the trial at Leicester Crown Court, prosecutor Michael Duck KC stated that Wandelt and Spragg contributed to conspiracy theories that have long surrounded the family’s tragic loss, causing further distress. Wandelt’s desperate claims included evolving memories from her supposed childhood as Madeleine, seeking proof of her allegations.
Despite her insistence, the court underscored the undeniable fact that Madeleine McCann is the biological daughter of Kate and Gerry McCann. Emotions ran high, with Wandelt audibly crying as the prosecutor debunked her claims. The trial continues as jurors hear how Madeleine’s family has endeavoured to shield themselves from relentless public scrutiny and misinformation fueled by persistent conspiracy theorists.
