Remember Cardiff’s iconic Debenhams? It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly five years since it bid us farewell. That once-bustling landmark is now unrecognisable—reduced to rubble and scaffolding—as it readies itself for a spectacular makeover into a vibrant public plaza!
🏗️ In 2021, as the retail giant closed its doors, plans began brewing for something ambitious. Landsec, the team behind St David’s Shopping Centre, envisioned a lively 102,000 sq ft city square in its place. Fast forward to today, construction is well underway, with plans to unveil the space by summer 2026!
💡 Designed with input from over 5,000 local voices, this dynamic development promises green spaces, a water fountain splash pad, and even a performance stage. Think charming markets, delicious food vendors, and two new cafés and restaurants—right in the heart of Cardiff!
