🚮 **Fly-Tipping Fiasco: Bridgend’s Clean Record or Missed Opportunity?** 🚮

Wow, can you believe it? For nearly a decade, nobody in Bridgend has been prosecuted for fly-tipping! But don’t pop the champagne just yet… it’s not because fly-tipping isn’t happening! In fact, over 1,500 incidents were reported just last year alone.

So what’s going on? Bridgend County Borough Council has decided to focus on prevention and education, rather than taking culprits to court. They argue this approach has actually reduced fly-tipping incidents by 18.6% since 2022. Meanwhile, our neighbours in Neath Port Talbot are handing out fines with gusto, leading to seven prosecutions from just 633 incidents last year.

Locals in Bridgend are feeling frustrated, saying more needs to be done. But the council insists their approach of working with residents is making a positive difference. They’ve emphasised that while they’re keen to maintain this educational route, they won’t hesitate to take action against repeat offenders if necessary.
What’s your take on this strategy? Should more prosecutions be pursued or is prevention the way forward? 🤔 Share your thoughts and join the conversation! #FlyTipping #Bridgend #EnvironmentalAction
