**Cardiff Man Missing Since January: Wife Holds Out Hope Amidst New Leads**

The wife of a Cardiff man who disappeared earlier this year says she remains optimistic that her husband will be found, as renewed police efforts and fresh CCTV evidence provide new avenues for the investigation.

Mark Kinson, aged 52, was last confirmed to have been seen near his parents’ home in Llanrumney, Cardiff, on the evening of Friday, 31 January. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear, and his family’s anguish has been compounded by what his wife describes as “ambiguous loss” – a term often used by families of missing people to describe the uncertainty and emotional turmoil that follows.
Angela Kinson, Mark’s wife, has spoken to reporters about the immense challenges her family faces in the absence of answers. “It is the not knowing that is most difficult,” she explained. “We are taught in life to grieve for loved ones and move forward, but nothing can prepare you for this kind of disappearance. Every day is a struggle.” Angela was eager to share that, despite her husband’s previous battles with his mental health, his vanishing was “completely out of character,” adding that their life together had been “lovely” and “very normal.”
On the day Mark went missing, he was wearing a dark grey or blue tracksuit and is described as approximately five feet seven inches tall. The initial search efforts focused on the Llanrumney area, but Angela has expanded her appeals to neighbouring communities, including St Mellons, Cefn Mably, Castleton, and Marshfield, in response to possible new sightings and the release of recent CCTV footage.
Significantly, Angela revealed that in June, South Wales Police provided the family with new CCTV images which might feature Mark. One piece of footage, dated Sunday, 2 February, reportedly shows a man resembling Mark near the Texaco garage on Cypress Drive in St Mellons. Angela remarked, “Nearly all the earlier footage shared with us was easily ruled out, but this most recent clip appears to be a possible match. It’s frustrating that the footage wasn’t shown to us sooner – perhaps it could have changed the nature of the investigation at an earlier stage.”
Apart from the CCTV evidence, Angela described hearing about a possible sighting of Mark on Began Road heading towards Cefn Mably on the morning of Monday, 3 February. The police have since appealed to anyone who may have been in the area at that time – particularly those with dashcam footage – to come forward.
Despite these fresh leads, Angela voiced frustration at the delay in police action, noting that although officers have reassured her family that a thorough search will be conducted in the highlighted locations, they are still awaiting confirmation that these efforts have begun. “We remain hopeful as a family that the search will go ahead soon,” she said, highlighting her tireless work in distributing missing person posters throughout the region.
Throughout the search, Angela has expressed heartfelt gratitude for the public’s help. She credits the widespread community support – with appeals shared as far away as Scotland – as instrumental in keeping Mark’s case in the spotlight. “People’s willingness to help has meant the world to us,” she said. “If it weren’t for the public sharing our appeals, we wouldn’t have come this far.”
Interestingly, Angela also acknowledged contact from other families who are experiencing similar heartbreaks, which has given her strength and a sense of solidarity. “Some may say I’m unrealistic to keep hoping,” she admitted. “But I cling to stories of missing loved ones being reunited after long periods. I can’t give up on Mark.”
Angela is now once again appealing for information and urging anyone with knowledge of Mark’s whereabouts or relevant CCTV footage to come forward, anonymously if they wish. “Someone must know something. For now, any small detail could be significant. We simply want to bring Mark home.”
South Wales Police continues to handle the case and ask that anyone with potential leads reference occurrence number 2500033949 when contacting them.
As the search continues, Angela and her family remain in limbo, drawing strength from community support and holding on tightly to hope that answers will soon emerge.
