๐ฆ **Hey UK Drivers, Heads Up!** ๐ฆ

Did you know a friendly flash of your headlights could lighten your wallet by up to ยฃ1,000? Yup, it’s a thing! ๐๐

Many well-meaning drivers think they’re doing their mates a favour by warning them about speed camera vans or police checkpoints. But hold onto your steering wheels! A quick flash to alert others might actually land you in hot water with the law.
According to a spokesperson at One Sure Insurance, signalling with your headlights for reasons other than showing your presence is a no-go. This habit can distract or confuse other drivers and is considered obstructing the police under Section 89(2) of the Police Act 1996. ๐ฒ
Over the years, police forces have ramped up the use of speed enforcement camera vans to nail speeding and boost road safety. But donโt try to beat them at their own game! Spotting and signalling can lead to fines and points on your licence for misuse of headlights. ๐
**So what should you remember?** Familiarise yourself with Rules 110 and 112 of the Highway Code. ๐ฆ
– Rule 110: Flash those lights ONLY to let other drivers know you’re there.
– Rule 112: Honk the horn ONLY to alert others to your presenceโnever when at a standstill unless a crash is about to happen.
A spokeswoman adds, while the temptation to warn a fellow driver is real, sticking to these guidelines will keep you safer and fine-free. Let the professionals handle speed enforcement.๐
Let’s drive safe and keep those hard-earned pounds in our pockets. Cheers! ๐๐
