🚫🚗 Banned Number Plates Alert! 🚗🚫

The DVLA is cracking down on some personalised number plates, ruling out those that could be seen as offensive or inappropriate. With a spotlight on new number combinations, they’ve announced which ones won’t make the cut for 2026. Their extensive review includes words that might be perceived as insults, swear words, sexual or drug references, and even those with political, religious, or potentially discriminatory meanings.

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the barred plates this year: GA26 AZA, RU26 RUS, YE26 MEN, MU26 GER, BA26 OMB. These include references to sensitive topics like war zones, ‘bomb’, and other inappropriate themes.

In the past, plates like ‘N14 GAS’ have been yanked from circulation. Jackie and John Cooke lost their sentimental plate, inspired by Bristol Rovers FC (aka ‘The Gas’), after it was flagged as potentially offensive.
While personalised plates offer a fun way to add a personal touch to your vehicle, it’s essential to remember the guidelines and steer clear of any controversial combinations!
