Gabby Logan recently shared some heart-wrenching family news that left her in tears before she took to the screens for the Women’s Rugby World Cup final. Despite her smile on camera as England clinched victory over Canada, the day prior was anything but ordinary for the beloved BBC presenter.

Gabby had to bid a sorrowful farewell to her cherished boxer, Milo. Saying goodbye to a pet is never easy, and with her family scattered, she found solace in her husband, Kenny. “I couldn’t do this on my own,” she confessed about the tough day, which she softened with “a gin and tonic and a bit of a cry.”

On the same emotional day, Gabby’s daughter, Lois, returned to Loughborough University for her second year. Although this wasn’t her daughter’s first time leaving home, the empty nest felt more real this time, particularly with her son Reuben also away playing for Sale Sharks. Adjusting to a quieter home, Gabby admitted, “It will feel different this next month, because Reuben won’t be living at home like he used to.”

Reflecting on Lois’ departure, Gabby recalls last September when she first dropped her off. “I cried when she went,” she shared, adding how the tears flowed after one final hug when it was time to leave. But with a smile, she reminisced about Lois being “so easy to live with”, always lending a helping hand around the house.
The transition to an empty nest isn’t easy, not when you’ve been a bustling house for so long. Yet, Gabby seems to find balance, with plenty on her plate, including travel with the Champions League, and the comforting thought of being able to visit Reuben up in Manchester.
The changes may be huge, but they’re also a phase that Gabby and her family are slowly warming up to. As she says, this newfound freedom is an adjustment. Here’s wishing Gabby strength and smiles as she navigates these family milestones.
