A tragic mystery surrounds the death of 78-year-old Keith Williams, who was found in the Taff Bargoed river in Treharris. Although his family reported him missing on 10th February last year, the circumstances of how he ended up in the river remain unclear. An inquest recently held revealed that Keith, a retired mechanical fitter, had been facing physical health issues and low mood. He had previously overdosed on medication but later expressed regret and showed no signs of self-harm thereafter. Discussions with health professionals up until early 2024 did not flag any immediate concerns.
Keith was discovered on 11th February. Despite thorough investigations, the inquiry could not ascertain why he was in the water, ruling his death as drowning.
