Exciting news for Maesteg! Plans are underway to breathe new life into a key spot in the town centre. A prominent building on Commercial Street is set for transformation, with proposals to develop two new shops on the ground floor and increase the number of residential flats upstairs from nine to ten. Just a stone’s throw away from the train station and the newly revamped town hall, this development promises to blend modern living with the classic charm of Maesteg.

Having already received initial approval back in 2021, the developers are now seeking to add one more flat by reworking the upper floors. The building has been a bit neglected over the years, but with a focus on high-quality design, it aims to restore its traditional red and light brick aesthetic alongside other historic buildings on the street.

These new homes will also serve a significant purpose, as they’ll be targeted as affordable housing. This is all happening as a separate massive development of 200 homes starts to take shape nearby on the former Revlon factory site. The groundwork was laid last year, clearing the way for even more growth in the area!

Stay tuned for updates on how the heart of Maesteg is set to evolve and bring more opportunities and vibrancy to the community. 🌟✨
