🚗 Struggling to find a parking spot at Gwent’s hospital? Relief might be just around the corner! In response to “significant parking issues,” a planning application could soon transform a helicopter pad into much-needed parking spaces. 🚁➡️🚙

🏥 Health bosses have proposed adding 150 temporary parking spaces to tackle overcrowding concerns and prevent potential accidents. This plan coincides with the installation of solar panel coverings, which will temporarily reduce the number of available spaces.
📏 The new spaces will comply with local planning policies, and a low-level timber rail will keep things organised and safe. The hospital is actively working towards long-term solutions for its parking woes, with hopes of relieving the headaches of patients, staff, and visitors alike.

🔄 The solar panel project, expected to kick off in 2026, will roll out over six to seven months and be split into four phases, each affecting 60 to 100 spots. This means temporary disruptions, but the net gain of 143 spaces in the end!

🌞 With the hospital striving for a balance between sustainable energy and practical parking solutions, this initiative showcases a vision for a more efficient and environmentally-friendly future. Stay tuned as the council reviews this application and considers the next steps for a smoother hospital experience for all. 🤞
