Take a sneak peek into the eerie, stripped-out shell of Swansea’s former Debenhams store! The iconic building is undergoing a transformation, and it’s almost unrecognisable. With its escalators silent and fixtures gone, this once-bustling cornerstone of the Quadrant Shopping Centre is about to enter an exciting new chapter.

On behalf of Swansea Council, Andrew Scott Ltd is wrapping up the strip-out phase and getting ready for ‘landlord fitout’ works, which will pave the way for prospective tenants to move in. The plan? To split the ground floor into two units for major national retailers, while the upper floors will become a hotspot for leisure and entertainment with a leading operator in the works.
Although the future tenants are still under wraps, excitement is building as talks are in advanced stages. According to Swansea Council leader, Cllr Rob Stewart, the reopening of this landmark is set to breathe new life into the city centre, attract more footfall, and boost the local economy with new jobs and investments.

Steve Rees from Andrew Scott Ltd highlights the importance of this kind of project, saying it’s not just about bricks and mortar. It’s about revitalising the area and supporting local community growth. This redevelopment is a key piece of Swansea’s ongoing journey to be a vibrant destination that people love to visit.

Keep your eyes peeled for more updates as Swansea’s city centre evolves, promising to offer new, diverse retail and leisure experiences for everyone to enjoy! What do you think the new tenants will bring? Share your thoughts in the comments!
