🚧 Sinkhole Saga Continues: Dunvant Road Delay 🚧

Residents of Swansea, brace yourselves for another month without Dunvant Road! The bustling route was initially set to re-open back in June 2025 after a sinkhole caused a major hiccup. However, it’s been delay after delay, and now we’re looking at an October re-opening. It’s the third push back, and we know the frustration is real.

Why the hold-up? Well, the Mining Remediation Authority has been hard at work, trying to treat an ancient mine shaft beneath the road. They’ve hit some tricky ground conditions and have to carefully work around live services. Safety first, right?
This sinkhole drama all started in March 2023 when a “ground collapse” outside a Dunvant Road property had everyone talking. Investigations revealed it was due to “unrecorded shallow mine workings” – not just disrupting the road but the footpath too. Sounds like a real-life mystery!
The nightmare began its fix in February 2025 with plans to wrap by June. But navigating the unstable terrain extended the timeline again and again. As of now, they’re nearing the finish line and aiming to resurface the road shortly.
The Mining Remediation Authority assures residents, “Safety is our priority. We’ve kept driveways open and work within normal hours to minimise disruption.” They’re staying connected with locals and the local primary school too.
Patience, Killay residents – we’re almost there! Stay tuned for updates. Thank you for hanging in there and fingers crossed for an October drive-through! 🚗💨
