🏉 From Almost Quitting to Rugby Stardom: The Inspiring Journey of Bundee Aki 🌟

Bundee Aki’s rugby career could’ve been a ‘what if’ story, but fate—and some encouraging words—had other plans. Born in New Zealand but a hero in Irish rugby, Aki has been pivotal in winning three Six Nations Championships and two Grand Slams for Ireland since his debut in 2017.

Back when he was a teenage dad, Bundee nearly hung up his boots to support his family, taking a job as a bank teller. But destiny intervened through the legendary Tana Umaga. Encouraged by his friend Tim Nanai-Williams and with a little push from his mum, Aki returned to club rugby, catching Umaga’s eye. In those early mornings at Counties Manukau, he found the spark to chase his dreams, eventually quitting his job and diving back into rugby.

Amidst all this, Bundee’s life is as thrilling off the field. He recently became a father for the fifth time, with an incredible story to tell! Just before a big game for the British and Irish Lions, his wife Kayla had an unforgettable roadside childbirth. Aki is eager to spend time with his new baby girl, Aine, and reunite with his family after being away for weeks.
Currently, Aki is a key player at Connacht, a club he’s been with since 2014. As his contract nears its end in 2026, there’s buzz about a possible move. Could Bristol Bears or Newcastle Red Bulls be his next stop? Only time will tell!
For now, let’s celebrate this phenomenal player and his remarkable journey from hanging his boots to making history on the pitch! 🏆🇮🇪 #BundeeAki #RugbyLegend #Inspiration #FamilyFirst
