Speedboat killer Jack Shepherd is back behind bars after breaching his licence conditions, over a year after his release. Shepherd, infamous for the tragic death of 24-year-old Charlotte Brown during their first date on the Thames, was initially freed from his six-year sentence in January 2024. However, he’s now reincarcerated for breaking the rules set for his release. Charlotte’s father, Graham Brown, expressed his relief, stating, “He’s back where he belongs.”

The night Charlotte died, the pair had been drinking champagne before their boat hit a submerged tree trunk, capsizing and throwing her overboard. While Shepherd survived, Charlotte was found unconscious and tragically passed away later.

After the accident in December 2015, Shepherd fled the UK and was convicted in absentia of manslaughter by gross negligence. His adventure on the run led him to Georgia, where he eventually surrendered to authorities in 2019 and was extradited back to the UK. Alongside his manslaughter sentence, he received a four-year term for wounding with intent after a vodka bottle attack on a barman in Devon—events that cast further shadows on his character.
Charlotte’s family maintains that Shepherd still shows no remorse. Graham Brown remarked, “I’ll never forgive him and still believe he poses a risk to females.” This tragic episode reminds us of Charlotte’s loss every day. Justice, it seems, has caught up with Shepherd once more.
