The father of Jihad Al-Shamie, the attacker behind the Manchester synagogue tragedy, has spoken out in an emotional plea for unity. The shocking incident on 2nd October saw Al-Shamie drive into bystanders before stabbing others outside Heaton Park Congregation Synagogue during Yom Kippur. Tragically, Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz lost their lives, and four more were injured before police intervened.

Faraj Al-Shamie, Jihad’s father and a former trauma surgeon, took to Facebook to thank the community for their support, emphasising the need for unity and resilience. “Your kindness and support have touched our hearts deeply,” he shared, highlighting the solidarity shown during such trying times.
He extended his heartfelt sympathy to the victims’ families and commended the Manchester community for its strength and multicultural harmony. “Manchester shines as a beacon of unity where all faiths coexist in respect,” he said.

He also praised Manchester Police for their dedication to justice and safety, urging everyone to stand united against such senseless acts to ensure peace for all. Amidst the grief, Faraj expressed immense pride in Manchester, a city he’s called home for many years, for its enduring spirit of peace and solidarity.

This horrific event has left a profound impact, with ongoing investigations involving several individuals initially detained in connection with the attack. While some have been released, police stress that their inquiry is far from over, shedding light on the attacker’s disturbing ties.
In these challenging times, Faraj’s call for compassion and unity resonates deeply, reminding us all of the importance of standing together to safeguard our communities.
