⚠️ Shocking Incident in Glasgow: A man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after a harrowing attempt to end his own life and that of a two-year-old boy. Frederick Danquah, 28, made a distressing decision to step in front of a train at Garrowhill railway station while holding the child in his arms. Both were injured but, incredibly, the child sustained no serious harm.
Back in July 2023, following a devastating relationship breakdown, Danquah was seen trying to climb over a bridge with the child, only hours before the railway station incident. Despite police intervention at that time, tragedy was narrowly averted later on the station platform.
Danquah had denied attempted murder, citing mental health struggles, but a jury found him guilty. The judge, acknowledging the severity of the actions, also issued a non-harassment order to protect the child until they turn 18.
This case has left the local community shaken, with first responders and witnesses reportedly traumatised by the event. Though Danquah had no previous criminal record and was active in a community group, this act of desperation underscores the critical importance of mental health support.
