A father’s heartfelt warning comes with a tragic story: Aroen Kishen lost his wife and three young children in a devastating house fire in west London, believed to be sparked by a rogue firework. This terrible night turned his world upside down, and he wants others to understand the potential risks of fireworks.

On what started as a joyful Diwali celebration, the unexpected blaze claimed the lives of his family—Seema, Riyan (11), Arohi (8), and Shanaya (4)—as well as family friends Nitin and Sandhaya Chopra. The fire is thought to have ignited from a firework that landed in a recycling bin filled with combustible materials. Despite Aroen’s heroic efforts to rescue his family, he was overcome by smoke and flames.
With Diwali around the corner, Aroen hopes his painful lesson resonates. “If you use fireworks, you could lose everything,” he warns. Fireworks aren’t just about fun; they can turn lives upside down in a heartbeat. Let’s cherish our families in safe ways—celebrate at organised displays or in safe spaces without the fear of an accident.

Paul Askew, from London Fire Brigade, commends the bravery of responders on that tragic night and extends his condolences to those affected. He stresses the importance of safety during the bonfire and fireworks season. Making smart choices can prevent future tragedies.
Remember, fireworks aren’t a game. Celebrate safely and keep your loved ones close without risking their safety. If hosting your own firework display, sourcing from reputable sellers and following safety advice can make all the difference.

Let’s learn from this story and ensure safety is our priority this Diwali and beyond.💔🎆 #FireworksSafety #RememberingTheLost #CelebrateSafely
