Back in November, Cheshire East Council faced a hefty fine of £500,000 for failing to act after a previous incident with the same tree. Since then, the council has introduced several safety improvements.

For Fiona, the fight for justice started from day one. Reflecting on the event, she shares: “It was a monumental shock. You think it’s just another day, then it turns into your worst nightmare.”

Chris’ family fondly remembers him as a mischievous, kind, and exceptionally funny person. His son Sam, 27, paid a heartfelt tribute, saying, “Losing Dad was losing my light and strength. I miss every little piece of him.”

The campaign is gaining momentum, with nearly 35,000 people signing Fiona’s petition in just three weeks. A permanent memorial now stands in The Carrs park, featuring a robin, symbolising the tender moments of reflection shared by his loved ones.

Supporting Fiona’s cause, Tatton MP Esther McVey is bringing the campaign to Parliament in hopes of legislative change.

As the local community and the nation get behind Fiona, we stand together in her fight to ensure our green spaces are safe for everyone. Show your support by signing the petition on Change.org and spreading the word.
